Malakoff, 19 December 2023 – SPIE ICS, a French digital services company and subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, announces the integration of AVM Up, a Lyon-based regional business communications operator established in 1983 that specialises in cloud services. This external growth operation allows SPIE ICS to strengthen its positioning in Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), an industry that is rapidly gaining momentum in France

This acquisition of AVM Up, which was announced in July 2023, comes two years after the acquisition of Infidis, a company that specialises in integrating private cloud solutions into data centres. It forms part of SPIE ICS’ external growth strategy, in a market context in which players are moving towards fixed and mobile Unified Communications.

Integrating AVM Up into SPIE ICS enables the digital services company to enhance its business communications expertise and offer all customers in France additional cloud services and robust solutions that are readily available and provide real added value (e.g. fixed and mobile operator licences). The provision of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) meets current market expectations.

AVM Up, which is also a telecoms operator registered with Arcep(1), has its own network that enables it to provide communications services across the entire value chain. It was recently awarded HDS certification for health data hosting that will enable it to generate more business with customers in the health sector, a sector in which SPIE ICS already has a strong presence. This certification has been compulsory for health data hosting since 2018 and is based, in particular, on ISO 27001 certification to ensure that personal data security requirements are met.

The 50 AVM Up employees now form part of the National Service Centres Division (DCSN) teams who provide all SPIE ICS’ remote industrialised services. AVM Up’s services will now be offered and marketed not only in its traditional distribution network, but also in the 60 SPIE ICS branches across France.

The integration of AVM Up into SPIE ICS is a genuine joint business project that benefits our customers and is fully in line with our strategy for growth in the area of Unified Communications. We’re already working well together and we have a number of excellent projects in the pipeline across our different service lines,” explains Xavier Daubignard, Managing Director of SPIE ICS.
