Celebrating its 10th anniversary in India, Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G World Champions edition. The smartphone is an India-exclusive collaboration with the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The special edition smartphone comes in a sole 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant and is priced at Rs 35,999. We have been using the smartphone for a couple of days and before getting into the details, we can say that it’s a treat for the AFA fans, but for everyone else, it’s just a new Redmi Note 13 Pro+ colour variant.

Don’t get me wrong, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ Worlds Champion edition is pretty and quite attractive. I was using it for the last two days and it rarely happened that I wasn’t asked about the phone. The smartphone has a beautiful blue colour on the top half, with the camera setup on the top left and the AFA and Redmi logo on the top right. The bottom half is the blue and white of the argentina jersey, and it says number 10 in gold, which marks the 10-year anniversary of Xiaomi.

For anyone who is a fan of Argentina’s national football team, I think this special edition of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is absolutely fantastic. It’s quirky, and it stands apart from any of the phones you see in the market, even the original Note 13 Pro+ itself. However, considering it targets football fans and that too, specifically the Argentina FC fans, the phone will have a very niche number of buyers. It is striking for all, but only the fans will buy it.

The price of the smartphone is interestingly the same as the original Redmi Note 13 Pro+, which is Rs 35,999. Customers can also avail a Rs 1,000 discount on that if they buy the phone using an ICICI Bank card.

Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G World Champions edition lock screen features Emiliano Martnez, ngel Di Mar, and Rodrigo De Paul

But what I like about this special edition phone is that it isn’t just reflected in the design of the phone. When you switch the phone on, you see that the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G World Champions edition also has a custom lock screen, that of Emiliano Martnez, ngel Di Mar, and Rodrigo De Paul. When you unlock the screen, you see the AFA logo super imposed against the image of a football stadium. The theme also has a customised icon pack, but that doesn’t exactly say football. The icons just look different is all.

Beyond that, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G World Champions edition is exactly the same as the original version that was launched earlier this year. You get the same 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED 1.5K screen, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset. The smartphone also features a triple camera setup at the back, which includes a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP3 camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. It has the same 16-megapixel sensor for selfies, and a 5,000mAh battery under the hood.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ World Champions edition also features a dedicated wallpapaer and icon pack

I think it could have been a nice touch and a way to make the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G World Champions edition, if Xiaomi launched the special edition with HyperOS. However, this comes with the same old Android 14-based MIUI 14. We are sure it will soon get the HyperOS upgrade, but seeing it out of the box would have really highlighted the “special” in the special edition.

As for overall, and camera performance, you can expect the device to offer similar results as the original Redmi Note 13 Pro+. We had reviewed the phone in January this year, and we thought it was the “best Redmi phone so far”. Expect no less from the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G World Champions edition!
