NEW DELHI: After limiting unlimited 5G to 2GB data per day or above plans post-recent tariff hikes, Reliance Jio has quietly launched three new affordable data plans for its customers who want to access the telecom operator’s fifth-generation network.
These new Jio plans are priced at Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151, offering 3GB at 4G high-speed, 6GB at 4G high-speed, and 9GB at 4G high-speed, respectively. These data plans provide unlimited 5G when latched on to the JioTrue 5G network using a compatible 5G handset, the latest listing on the telco’s website shows.
Recently, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea increased mobile tariffs by 11-20% and 10-23%, respectively, to boost average revenue per user (ARPU) while Jio, too, has increased its rates by 12-25% – the first wide-ranging headline price increase since November 2021.
Jio has said that unlimited 5G will only be available to subscribers on 2GB/day or higher plans compared to 1.5GB/day earlier, translating into an effective 46% increase for users wanting to access the latest generation mobile network services.
