Samsung Semiconductor India automates 5G field testing process – iTnews Asia
Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has implemented an end-to-end 5G wireless protocol signaling solution to streamline and automate its 5G field-to-lab workflow.
This is done for SSIR’s lab in the Bangalore city of India.
It has selected Keysight Technologies’ Signaling Field-To-Lab (S-FTL) solution to improve end-user quality of experience (QoE) by accelerating the replication, analysis, and resolution of 5G field issues in a test lab environment.
SSIR’s corporate EVP and MD, Balajee Sowrirajan, said the partnership has helped recreate real-world field scenarios in a lab environment, and accelerated the resolution of communication and connectivity issues for wireless modem customers.
With a comprehensive set of tools and techniques for testing, the S-FTL solution enables engineers to identify and resolve communication issues accurately, said Sowrirajan.
This has helped save validation costs and turnaround time, he added.
The solution has helped resolve issues including voice or data calls, handovers, 5G to 4G mobility, and carrier aggregation for deployments ranging from single SIM, dual SIM, and dual connectivity.
Analysing field logs
According to SSIR, the main issue is replicating complex problems that occur in the field within their lab.
It requires analysing field logs, which is time-consuming and complicated due to missing data or errors.
This needs a reliable test automation solution that can quickly and accurately turn field logs into test scenarios in the lab.
Moreover, SSIR wants a solution that can replicate field issues in the lab, allowing engineers to focus on solving the problems instead of spending time analysing logs or creating test cases.
Based on the 5G Protocol R&D Toolset, the solution automates the process by analysing field logs for 5G and 4G and IMS, making protocol-based adjustments to ensure protocol-compliant behaviour, and then replicating the field scenario as a test script.
The S-FTL solution features an open input log template that accommodates various formats to enable adoption into the workflow.
