CoreSite Leadership

CoreSite enables digital businesses to interconnect, innovate, compete and grow.

CoreSite’s data centers, decades of operational experience and our unique interconnection platform – combined with American Tower’s domestic and international real estate portfolio – creates a differentiated foundation for building the interconnection fabric of the future.

A History of Operational Excellence and Innovation

CoreSite has been a leader in providing colocation data center services for more than 20 years.

2001

CoreSite started in 2001 as CRG West, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group. CRG West was created to meet the needs of interconnection and data center customers at One Wilshire® in Los Angeles and 55 South Market in San Jose.

2009

In 2009, CRG West rebranded as CoreSite – a name indicative of the company’s capabilities, international reach and mission-critical reliability. At that time, CoreSite had 11 data centers in seven markets, recognized the importance of customer experience and that providing retail and wholesale scale colocation created value for a broad set of customers.

2010

In 2010, CoreSite became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: COR). Since then, the company has developed and improved its colocation facilities, products and services.

2021

In November of 2021, CoreSite was acquired by American Tower, one of the largest global real estate investment trusts and a worldwide provider of wireless communications infrastructure.

2022

In July of 2022, Stonepeak Partners LP, a leading alternative investment firm funding infrastructure assets, acquired an ownership interest of approximately 29% in American Tower’s U.S. data center business for $2.5 billion. Stonepeak followed their initial investment with an additional $570 million, taking its total stake in the company to around 36%, in October 2022.

2024

Today, CoreSite owns and operates 28 data centers in 11 major communications markets across the United States and has a portfolio totaling about 4.6 million square feet of data center space. CoreSite also provides direct to all the major cloud providers through 23 native cloud onramps along with the Open Cloud Exchange®, CoreSite’s software-defined networking platform.
